- It
should be a work done totally by students. They should not just
by heart the speech given by their teacher.
- They should know the topic on which they
are speaking. They should be confident and have good command over
the language.
- How ever we are not expecting that technically
they are masters in the topic. But considering their age and exposure
which they get about IT they should be aware of the topic.
- Its ok if they select simple topic but
their presentation should be good.
There is not point in selecting the latest topic and have no knowledge
about it. In such cases students just read the speech given by
their lecturers and
are not able to answer the simple questions asked by the judges,
instead its better to select the simple topic as per their age
and present it confidently.
- Also in case of online projects they should
know the features of the presentation software which they have
used in their project.
For e.g. if their presentation is in Power Point and they have
included certain transition effect or downloaded pictures they
should know how to do it.
- Also in many cases I have noticed that
students download the pictures from net. But when we ask them
from which site the pictures are down loaded, they are not aware
of it.
They just say goggle.
But goggle is the search engine through which they access the
particular site
but students are not aware of this and they say that the pictures
are taken from goggle.com which is the wrong answer.
- In case of models, it should be prepared
by students and they should be on the topics related to IT. I
have noticed that students of few schools whose financial condition
is good don't prepare the models. They bring the actual equipments
like lap tops, different types of mobile phones etc. This is wrong
though it is impressive.
- They can use these equipments as an example
to supplement their explanation but not as their project. Because
while judging it will be injustice with the students who take
efforts in making their models and cannot afford to buy such costly
equipments.
- The charts they prepare must be clearly
readable with the explanation written in points and not in paragraphs
which judges or visitors cannot read. They can draw or stick different
pictures to explain their points so the charts are not totally
text oriented and will look attractive.
- The explanation should also be short and
sweet and not like a big lecture.
Because if each team explains for 15-20 minutes and if there are
20 teams, it will take almost 3- 4 hrs. for judging.
